CosteaM
This is a freebie from Terry Scott in the UK. He sent me 2 Halinas with apparent problems i.e. stiff lens (all of them are) and fungus. It turned out the fungus was only dirt easily removed. Both cameras had the same stiff lens so I had to open one of them and re-lube.Nothing complicated, these are not compurs, even I could do it.It seams this was made in Hong Kong around 1960 -"Empire Made" as embossed on the bottom.Very basic and heavy little cameras with Halina Anastigmat 1:3.5/45mm fixed lens, so-called RF but actulally a simple viewfinder, shutter with only few speeds: B, 25, 50, 100, 200.Here some pictures on Fujicolor Superia. Not a bad shooter though.

Holland Landing-my secret fishing place

Lillies

Garden

Happy shooting,
M.C. victorm.
That was my first 35mm camera-bought in Ipswich in 1965. I still have the slides somewhere.
david_m
I have one of those... I have not had the nerve to use it yet since the back keeps falling off.
frank_skomial
I inherited one purchased in London, perhaps in late 1950s. The picture quality was good for that time. Looking back at old slides, it was good for the price of 10 British Pounds, but nothing to compare to newer cameras.
michaelging
Mihai, I think that is a fine looking camera, and that you did a great job repairing it . The photos are of a great quality, that I did not expect. Thanks for sharing the camera and the pics.
winfried_buechsenschuetz1
My experience is that the Halina lens is far from the worst lens ever made and can deliver quite decent photos. Most of the slides came out well exposed so shutter speeds at least on my item do not seem to be far off.
bob_mcbob
I have one, and the lens is extremely stiff like yours were. How does it open up? I did try running a roll of film through it once, but I couldn't get it to wind around the spool properly (it kept winding around itself and getting completely screwed up. Here's an example:

peter.warwick
Hi folks I love the look of this camera, I spotted one in a local shop and it just jumped out at me. It looks in very good condition but i have not handled it yet so I don't know whether the lense barrel is stiff or not. I spoke to the guy and he was asking 45 pound for it. Does that sound resonable? I can't find very much information on it online, but from what i've seen they sell for about 10 pounds on E-bay (but then thats ebay for you). Does this sound very expensive? What might be a suitable price to barter to? thank you very much Pete P.S. it does not seen to have a case (like the ones on E-bay) does it make much difference? can you still attach a strap to it? stephen_kittoe
I bought one of these cameras today at a rubbish dump. It seems very good but it too has a stiff lens barrel. It reminded me of my first camera also a Halina but so nice. I bought it in 1967 I think but this is much more attractive. I just can't resist these nice bits of engineering so I snap them up wherever I seem them. Soon I'll have to buy a bigger house and leave posterity a problem! michelle_sawyer1
Just got one of these for a buck! It seems to have held up remarkably well and I look forward to taking it out for a spin. A real cutie!
ana_g.
I have one of those as well, and the lens is stiff also. The thing is that, after looking in the japanese link, im afraid of messing it up, since i dont know how to repair lenses.
I would like to know if anybody has an idea of where i can find the instructions manual, and if there's any chance of making the lens less stiff...thanks in advance!!
siobhan_kavanagh
Hi everyone,
I just picked up one of these of ebay for about a tenner. I absolutely love the look of the camera but the lens on mine is really stiff too. I'm fairly new to the whole photography business so what lubricant would anyone recommend I use for it? Would an all purpose be suitable?
Thankyou!!!
