dan flanders Posted November 17, 2005 Share Posted November 17, 2005 I have a dozen or so skylight and Uv filters by Leitz; some marked NY and some Wetzlar. I can't tell the difference in performance between them. Leitz NY had production capacity for numerous Leica accessories and it was used from time to time, generally in the late forties when Wetzlar was unable to meet demand, materials availability, and other economic factors. IMMAO it is of consequence only to the collecting fraternity. In the seventies and eighties Leitz USA was importer of B&W and it was generally believed that Leitz filters were really re-badged B&W.
