gregory_nicholson
Wow is right, a museum piece. I wonder how a guy without an ebay history of selling camera equipment got his hands on something like that.

awahlster
Soo take a real good look at the detail photo's of this piece of junk it has internal physical damage to the elements nnow how do you think that could happen. This lens has been apart and messed with a lot. I would give you $100.00 for it after I had a chance to shoot a test roll through it. YOU really need to look at the photos
awahlster
SORRY there is another one of these on ebay and I figure that the one you were refering to was that one. I should have looked at the auction you were talking about before posting but the link fell apart and I didn't take the time to do an item number search. soo_choi
I heared there is less then 50 of this lens sold in US. Probably mostly went to pro use. It will be hard to find in this mint condition.
awahlster
no idea how many were made but quite a few went to an astronomy application that used 4 of these lenses mounted in such a way to record the same spot in space at the same instant. For very dim objects. I have seen a couple of these shown on astronomy web sites.
soo_choi
Mark i wonder "WHY" canon stop making this lens. I see used autofocus lenses going well over 4,500 dollers. Just don't make sense to me. I guess supply and demand.
awahlster
The 200mm f1.8L nFD is the last FD mount lens made and was if I remeber correctly marketed after the EF version and it was they astronomey use that prompted Canon to produce the ones they did. So there was as far as Canon was conserned no market for an FD lens before they marketed this lens in Nov of 1989 this was 4 years after any other FD mount lens was brought to market. As to why they stopped making the EF version (if they have) got no idea!
