My first choice is M6 + 50mm Noctilux. With today's fine-grained fast

films, the combination provides huge flexibility with or without the

sun, with or without tripod. Noctilux is expenisve, but is only 15%

more expensive than the 35mm Summilux, which is my second choice. D.

If I were restricted to a compact camera, it would certainly be an M3 SS with the Dual Range Summicron. When looking through the viewfinder with the right eye, and keeping the left eye open, the 50mm frameline appears to be simply floating in open space, and you almost forget that you have a camera to your eye.

But for quality of the final print--and pleasure in handling a superlatively-engineered machine--I would keep my Rolleiflex 2.8F (Planar).

It's strange that the M3 with DR Summicron was my first professional-grade camera, purchased over thirty years ago, and after spending many thousands of dollars on cameras and lenses since that time (including a half dozen leica bodies and a dozen additional leica lenses), nothing but the Rolleiflex equals that first camera and lens for sheer instinctual photography.
