Re-Covered OM1 MD

A few months back I posted here and asked a few questions about a

newly-acquired OM1 MD. I'm mainly a Nikon/Leica shooter and wasn't

familiar with the OM system.

 

The advice that I received here was great and I again want to thank

everyone.

 

On to the subject line...

 

The body covering was loose along some of the edges so I decided to

try re-covering it. After a little reasearch I decided to order the

new covering from Cameraleather.com

 

The kit arrived yesterday and it took me less than an hour to re-

cover the camera. The black seal-grain leatherette that I ordered was

cut to perfection.

 

There was only one minor concern to me and that was in removing the

self-timer lever and bezel. Following the instructions on the

Cameraleather website the process was painless. I had made

a "spanner" from a small paper clamp and it worked perfectly.

Cameraleather even supplied a round piece of material to cover the

black plastic on the self-timer lever.

I recovered my OM-1MD using their Black Lizard leather nearly 5 years ago. It's holding up very well and hasn't tried to peel off or anything.

 

One of these days I'll try their Kid Leathers for a refresh.

Just did the same last night. I put a grey lizard cover on my black OM-1n. Looks great, and

really easy to do. I recovered my Pen FT a couple of years ago as well. Now I'm looking at my

OM-4T....
