todd1664878707
I posted a similar message in a different forum, but only got one response that didn't help me. I shoot Nikon RAW and convert my NEFs to JPGs outside of Photoshop. I then import them into Photoshop CS via the Browse tool. I wanted to sort them by the time the images were taken, but when I sort by "Date Created" it sorts the images by the time the JPGs were created and not when the image was taken which doesn't work for me. Any ideas how I can access the EXIF data and sort by the date/time the image was taken?
mark_jacoby___raleigh__nc
Hi, I had that problem once and was able to sort by Date Modified. Don't know if that will help in your case,
todd1664878707
Thanks Mark, but I tried that. If I sort by date modified, it does just that. I've been editing the photos all along, so it uses the modified date to sort them.
benjamindbloom
I don't use Photoshop CS, or the Browse tool, or a Nikon camera. However... :) I shoot with a Canon, and leave it in continuous numbering mode. The file name numbers keep the photos in the order they were shot, so I sort on filename. I then see Raw and JPG files right next to each other. While the JPG has the date of the last time it was modified, the RAW shows me when it was shot. Will that work for what you want? todd1664878707
Thanks Benjamin but that doesn't work for me either. I shot a wedding with two cameras so the file names are out of sync, but the time stamp should be accurate.
dave_nelson___atlanta__ga
You can with other tools, but not with PS CS Browser. Try ACDSee or one of the other suggestions.
vagrant
Are you willing to rename your files? If so, jhead can rename files based on EXIF data that you select. Then you can just sort by the new filename. ellis_vener_photography
You can with other tools, but not with PS CS Browser.
You can with Adobe Bridge in PsCS2. bridge replaces the Browser in PsCS and Ps 7. I know this works because I've done it when using multiple cameras. You have to make sure that the camera clocks are all synchronized with each other.
