nathaniel_pearson
The story told was that they derive from some form of armor, which then morphed into bandolier-style arrays of bullets once guns arrived on the scene, and are now ornamental plastic sticks. jonathan_reynolds
The first shot looks like it was taken in about 1850.
gsmith
Very nice shots! Do they reflect the observed light levels in the venue, or did things look darker to your eyes while shooting?
nathaniel_pearson
Geoff, it was quite dim in there. As far as I could tell, the quite glary lights from the background were incandescent, so quite a bit of red in the spectrum perhaps. Exposure times, if memory serves, were mostly 1/15 or 1/30 sec.
