papo
I am unable to post a photo, having deleted one and getting an error message. My request for assistance has been ignored by the photo.net managers. Certainly not getting excited about signing up and paying if one get such poor attention. dave_nitsche
When did this happen?
stevemarcus
If the photo upload quota for non-subscribers is one per day, it may not matter whether or not you delete the uploaded photo (your quota limit) and try to replace it with another. In other words, you may have to wait 24 hours to upload another photo.
ben conover
Hi, make sure the file size of the photo is right. They don't wipe your arse here, it's a privately run site, I sympathise. Cheers.

will king
On a side note, and maybe a related issue, the Critiue Forum seems to be stuck in limbo.
papo
I was trying this forum out. I posted my first photo, just one, and then deleted it because I chose the wrong one. I tried to post a different one. Problem, can not update. The problem still exists. Sent a message for help to the administrators. Message ignored ! ... and I was about to subscribe! stevemarcus
Olivio, did you not read my above post? I'm fairly certain that it answers your question. I'm not a member of "site management" but I've been a member of this community for quite a long time. The site management is working on other issues right now so you should probably not expect an immediate response to an e-mail query.
papo
Steve, quite a few days have already gone by since the problem appeared and it still persists. So it is nothing to do with one photo a day. Thank you for assisting Regards Olivio
stevemarcus
O.K., now I understand your problem. Good luck with getting it solved. If you get tired of waiting and you're not yet ready to subscribe, you might consider starting a new account, especially since you just recently joined the site. papo
Thanks. I was inclined to subscribe, because I like the good average level of images posted, but now I am not sure anymore. Got rather annoyed with this incident, including the fact that no one of the managers has replied. Take care.
hatley
Olivio, over three years of being a member I have to say its been an all around very stable site and it has been a resoundingly positive influence on photography as a whole. Have patience, sounds like a lot going on behind the scenes. Judge it in a couple of months =)
steve_bingham
Ditto. It is a great site and about to get even better in the coming months! Lots of issues taking lots of time right now. Management change usually does that! Hang in there. Meanwhile, try this. Simply open another account and submit what you want - per the "free" rules. philg
Sorry about that, Olivio. We are bringing in some experienced software engineers to overhaul the entire photo sharing system. Give us a couple of months! We're also eliminating the subscription system, so don't feel bad about not subscribing!
lee park
And what about those people who just re-upped for 3 years? I assisted a friend from overseas in doing that...
papo
Well, I guess that the nice reactions I got from various people are one more indication that this site is worth following up. I understand that this is a transitional period for the site, so no hard feelings. I look forward to being part of life in this site ... I am off to Azerbaijan for a month now. Regards to all those who have exchanged messages in response to my query. OA

hatley
In the end, my subscription fee was just a donation to a worthy cause that I was in a position to make. Its like supporting your local museums in my view, and for busy folks who don't have the time to write articles or moderate a forum it is a way for us to lend a hand.

It would be nice if some sort of patron program stuck around. Using the museum reference again, my local fine arts museum gives you a fancy gold sticker rather than the normal blue one when visiting, and once a year invites you to a black tie affair where you can network. Pretty easy stuff for the capital raised - though I understand the irritation at the sense of entitlement on the forums from subscribers and very much like the idear of equal services for all. Just my views =)
keith turrill
We're also eliminating the subscription system, so don't feel bad about not subscribing!

The $25 that I paid for 18 months on a beta test of credit card billing may have been a donation but I would need to see much better website and business performance to start paying for image storage. I already have that at other locations.
Landrum Kelly
I'm not sure what people are expecting for the cost of a bottle of soda pop every week. Take what you like from the site and leave the rest alone. You'll still come out way ahead, regardless of what you take. I've seen the site go through a number of changes since I happened upon it in 1999. There is a lot here, and you can be on it for years and never have explored all of its broad avenues and little alleys. We users and subscribers are never going to manage or administer the site--nor should we expect to be able to do so. We can at least leave feedback, but to expect the management to respond to every query is not realistic for what we pay compared to what it costs to operate the site. I can guarantee to anyone that, if they only leave photos and constructive comments, they will never feel that this is a heavy-handed site. They will see it for the treasure that it is and have a great deal more respect for it. At present there is nothing out there that comes close to this site, in spite of all its imperfections. --Lannie
