For USA Passport or gray market, see www.donchatterton.com

Don is a very reputable dealer. His prices are not the lowest but you

can deal with him with complete confidence.

For great prices on gray market, see www.deltainternational.com

I have not bought from delta but have heard of others having success.

There are a number of so called dealers you really want to avoid but

I won't mention any here. Others can probably point you to a web site

where the misdeads of disreputable dealers are revealed.

for the good, the bad and the ugly. When I found this page, I must

have spent a full two hours reading years of bitching about

the "baddies".

Let me tell you, when you find the "goodies", like Don Chatterton,

B&H Photo and Delta International, you tend to use them over and over

again, with full trust...

I bought my M6TTL from Tamarkin during one of their Leica Day Events

last October. They offer 10% off for the one day event (best to call

in advance)plus any rebates currently available. They have events

scheduled to take place at their store in NYC during May & their

store in Ct. during June. Check their site for the specifics.

Someone in a previous post mentioned a new rebate program ($200 off

ea. body & lens)that's supposedly just been started, but I haven't

been able to substantiate this yet.

I've also had excellant service from The Photo Village and Ken Hansen

Photographic (both in NYC) with very competitive prices. Check with

them as well, as they also have these Leica Day events.

Check out www.deltainternational.com for the best prices on new grey

market Leica gear. Just under $1700 for M6 TTL body. I have bought

from betty without problems. www.cameratradersltd.com has great

prices on used Leica equipment and the highest and most honest

grading standards for used equipment that I have encountered. The

mint minus M6 TTL I bought from them for $1480 was indistinguishable

from new. Tamarkin sent me an "E+++" summilux that was scratched and

had spots on the front element. Don Chatterton tried to talk me into

buying the new summilux for an extra $1000.00 saying he had just sold

the used one listed on his website. I had a similar experience with

Vaughsmithcamera.

Delta International: IMHO, the best place to buy gray Leica in US (unless you go to Hong Kong and Taiwan)! Friendly and good price. Check

their webpage for prices before you place your order elsewhere.

Mel Levy (Nevada): The best place to buy USA Leica. Friendly and professional. For USA Leica, he is my number one choice.

Photovillage: Rich is a nice guy with competitive prices on USA and imports. He has some really good bargains all the time and very patient

with customers. Very active in LUG.

Don Chatterton: He sold me a Leica R5, claimed it is brand new made in Germany 5 or 6 years ago. He refused to take it back after I opened

the plastic bag and found out it's not German made. I even needed to glue back the leather along the hing of the back myself. He asked me

to talk with Leica USA to solve this issue mayself (good service!) and I found out that Leica USA didnot seal bags at all. There was no way

you could find it is not German unless you open the bag. Go figure yourself.
