potok
I have just purchased 1Gb Sandisk Ultra II card for my Canon Digital Rebel/300D and honestly i dont see any speed improvement over standard SanDisk card. Does anyone have different experience?
mendonphoto
Yes. I see the speed difference when the in-camera frame buffers fill. It takes longer before I can shoot another picture with standard cards than it does with the Ultra II cards. It's not a huge difference, though, I'd guess maybe 25% percent. mark u
Look at the performance comparisons here before you buy your next card: http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007-6425 It isn't worth spending a lot for a faster card for this camera, though you'll notice the difference more if you upgrade later. bob_zuur
I just compared a Sandisk Ultra II (66x) card against a Lexar 40x card and a cheap Legend card (all 512 MB) to shoot and clear 4 large fine and then 4 RAW pictures. All took 13 seconds for the first task and 24 seconds for the second. No difference at all that I could measure. Cheers, Bob BTW I sometimes get Err 02 messages (card problem) with the Sandisk card, but not with the others.
dogbert
I went through the same experience. I think the Ultra II is slightly quicker to write to file and noticeably quicker when reviewing a file, but the difference is not huge. Certainly not the 4x one might expect from a 40x write speed compared to a 10x write speed of the non-Ultra version. The drebel is limited by its own processor speed, not so much the card speed. Think of a fast card as an investment, as future cameras are certain to produce bigger files and have faster processors, which will want faster cards. marymac
I definitely notice the difference on my 20D. It works MUCH faster on the Ultra II cards than on a standard Sandisk card, so hold onto it. You'll be glad to have the extra speed when you get your next camera!
