havenornirvana
Is this a good combination?I see a lot of good pic. with that lens (in pbase) but i was thinking if it`ll give good pic. as it gives with D70? (Or is there a better lens (around 500$)? Thanks
alan_chan4
24-120mm is a nice zoom range for film bodies, but maybe not wide enough to some on digital bodies. If it is a hobby, I'd say don't spend too much on the body which always depreciates very fast, so long as the image quality is good enough and you are not shooting for money. lex_jenkins
I got one for my D2H. Love it. It's entirely equal optically to the popular 18-70DX "kit zoom" which I also own. But the VR is essential since I have trouble handholding steadily. I can routinely shoot again at 1/30 sec., something I hadn't been able to do for several years. 24mm seems adequately wide on the 1.5x Nikon sensor. I don't often use ultra wide angle lenses and when I do I have other lenses to choose from. I shoot far more often between the 50mm to 120mm focal ranges. Even for group shots of people 28mm-35mm is adequately wide. Keep in mind that the 24-120 VR will seem comparitively bulky and heavy on your diminutive D50. If compact size and light weight were among the primary factors that attracted you to the camera and if you can handhold steadily, you might want to consider smaller, lighter lenses.
