A1 Focusing Screen

Never heard of this before. While it is possible. The screens are quite different in shape.

I have some of the later Dealers sales books and there is no mention of this in them that I have seen. Also going by the date code would be much better then the serial number. The date code is the black ink number in the film compartment. Use this chart:

To read your's.

If yours is a 2.3 million number it is pretty late DO you have this screen?

Also I have almost all the various screens for the AE-1P and none are that I know of refered to as " improved high definition focusing screen "

The AE-1P screens are all brighter then the A-1 screens about 1 stop measured.

Where did you hear this?

I'd be interested to find out more, too. I bought my two A-1's in 1985 and 1986, serial numbers 23999xx and 240xxxx. Neither is as bright as my AE-1 Program screen from 1984. Also, the AE-1P screen has a larger diameter microprism than the A-1 screens. They look different through the viewfinder.
