I have the chance to upgrade to CS2 and was wondering what the major

differences are. Can one do the upgrade and not be slowed by a steep

learning curve? CS does everything I need it to do but the chance to

upgrade is too good to pass up.

There aren't really any major differences between CS2 and CS. So, if you are familiar with CS, then you won't be slowed by a steep learning curve. Of course, if you want to use the new features, then you have to learn to use them, but most are straightforward if you already know how PS works.

<p>There is a list of new features <a href="http://www.adobeevangelists.com/pdfs/pscs2/pscs2new.pdf">here</a>.

<p>And tutorials on how to use some of these features <a href="http://www.photoshopuser.com/photoshopcs2.html">here</a>.

<p>Probably the biggest difference between CS and CS2 is that the File Browser is now a separate application called Bridge. The other new features such as Smart Objects, Vanishing Point, the Spot Healing Brush, Smart Sharpen etc. are quite useful for photographers, but I wouldn't call any of them a real <em>"killer" feature</em> like the original Healing Brush in PS 7.

<p>If CS does everything you need it to, then maybe you don't need to upgrade. But it is a personal decision that you will have to make.
