tom_aellis1
Good Day. I'd like to locate some cut away foam, like we have in our pelican cases to put into tool chests for housing our Camera Equipment. Any ideas where I can pick up such foam? Thank you a bunch in advance. Tom

jack_fisher1
Try a mattress factory or upholstery shop. J
michael_riggs
Some pro shops where cases are sold also sell replacement foam kits. Try fabric or hobby stores, most sell foam that can be cut down and it's cheap. You think I could find a case for my Pentacon 500mm for under $50? Nope. That's where a Craftsman tool box and cheap foam came in. Careful though, try to make as few cuts as possible to minimize the amount of foam dust floating around inside the case. richard_fateman
Some foam is apparently unsuitable for use with camera equipment because it outgasses something that could either coat your equipment or corrode it. Some foam also crumbles as it ages. Check with your foam supplier perhaps. I associate the better foam (also more expensive) with the dark-gray color you see in Pelican cases. In USA, check your yellow pages for foam, or try to Google: foam, name_of_nearby_city, state
mdcarma
I've purchased eggcrate foam for my Halliburton cases from efoamstore.com, excellent pricing and great quality. It's not a pick and pluck foam, but I have ordered it in layers and was able to cut the center layer to shape, and had the eggcrate on top and bottom. Jochen_S
Here I have 2 shops selling foam for mattresses. They offer different thicknesses and cut it according to my wish. At Home I cut the holes for my eguipment by using a electric knife or sharp conventional ones.
