klsphoto
Thanks to all who answered my post about Central Oregon and the Columbia Gorge. There are some great ideas there. Here's another question: I may have the opportunity to drive from Eugene to Florence, Oregon for a one day trip. Is this enough time for some coast work? Once in Florence, which is the best direction to go: North or South? Any "must see" areas for landscape photos? Thanks again for your help, Karen
stwrtertbsratbs5
Funny you should ask - I was in Florence for almost two weeks during late July and early August (my brother lives there). Is it worth a day trip? Absolutely. The coast is beautiful. The dunes south of Florence are spectacular - looks like the Sahara but with dune grass and the ocean. North is very rugged, but there are some nice beaches. Go just north of Haceta Head Lighthouse and take the Hobbit trail (0.5 miles) to a long and secluded beach. Ask the information booth in Florence for directions. Can you spare another day? It really is worth the time. Robert
villaverde, justin
I second Heceta Head Lighthouse. It's my favorite lighthouse in Oregon. There's a good wide shot from a lookout just south and a good close up over the fence and up in the trees behind the lighthouse. Be careful it's a long drop down if you loose your footing.
