spohn
Has anyone run across an equivilent of the variable neutral density Singh- Ray filters out there? They only come in 77mm with an adapter for smaller lenses - was hoping to find a variable ND filter of reasonable quality that would fit my 52mm lense. Thanks, Al
joseph_smith3
I do not know of an alaternative. However, it comes with a free adapter ring for use with smaller diameter lenses. Many of us buy special purpose filters like this one in the largest possible diameters so we can use it with a variety of lenses. kevin conville
I have not seen another version of a variable ND filter but here's a trick you might try. Mount a polarizer filter in front of another polarizer filter. When you turn them relative to each other the amount of light that is attenuated is both variable and dramatic. This setup has been used for a long time in astronomy primarily to cut the brightness and glare of the moon. As far as how "neutral" this arrangement is on color, I cannot say. alex_lofquist
If you use double polarizers, be sure that the front one is a linear polarizer, for maximum extinction.
