gaius1
This sort of thing would normally get an ad agency fired (and in turn, the ad agency would probably fire the art director responsible).
david_h._hartman
One of the photographs by Galen Rowell used in the F100 brochure was shoot with a Nikon/Cosina FM-10. Galens primary camera before his death was the F100 but sometimes he used an N80 or FM-10 when he needed to travel very light. I think Galen wrote about this photo in Outdoor Photographer. I dont have back issues anymore.

This has been going on for a long time. There is no reason to believe a specific photograph was take with the camera and lens unless that is stated in an advertisement or brochure. The photographs can easily and often are taken with a different brand of camera and lens than the ad.
kelly_flanigan1
In the 1960's many folks said they "used a Nikon F" whether it was a waist level; standard prism; selenium; Photomic; Photomic T; Photomic TN; or Photomic FTN; or a Nikkormat. In was condsidered abit un-pro or whussy to admit one used a camera with a meter in it
