watermelon
Hiya, just received a used 20mm AFd f/2.8 lens and have noticed the focusing ring gets sticky towards the closest focusing.
Manual focusing is fine, but using AF if the focusing ring gets turned nearly all the way right by my D70 or N6000 the camera doesnt have the strength to move it left again.
This means while the AF can lock on to a subject it needs me to move the ring left again afterwards. Is this easy to fix?
bryan_lardizabal
Send it back for refund...unless you can live with the inconvenience. This sounds like a possible alignment problem with the barrel - not good and your images may be affected by it as well.
bryan_lardizabal
One thing to check...the recessed drive screw on the lens mount for autofocus is most likely out of alignment.
mike crist
I had one of these lenses and spent a considerable amount of money fixing this problem...twice! In excellent working condition it is one of my all-time favorite Nikon lenses. However, it is somewhat fragile, and mine became a poor image maker as the right side of the frame eventually became noticably out of focus relative to objects equally distant. They don't take bumps well, especially the focus ring which seems to be sensitive to any undue pressure that other lenses might absorb without damage.
