jay_b3
Wondering if anyone here has any experience with LiveBooks?
I need to get a real website and I'm debating over whether to use it (or similar competitor), or going to a designer and getting a custom site done. LiveBooks is very close to what I would ask for from a web designer, but it's a bit more cookie cutter than a custom site would be. It seems fast and I've heard good recommendations for it on another forum.
Also anyone know if it's required to use the Livebooks hosting? I already have a web hosting service.
Livebooks also seems a bit expensive. Even the cheapest package is a bit more than I think I could get a custom site done.
btw - my stuff is commercial editorial and advertising with some portrait work.
thanks
trenternst
If you think you can get a custom site done for less, then the person you're getting to do your custom site is probably not a professional. Not that there aren't great amateur web designers out there, but it can be hit and miss. Just FYI.
chris_s3
I have LiveBooks and I don't think you'd be able to find a designer to make site of similar quality, especially one that you can update yourself. Most sites will require that you work with the designer to put any new work up, which would be a pain. Plus, I love the clean and simple design that allows viewers to focus on your images not the design. It's worked very well for me so far.
