bellavance
I've just upgraded from the 20D to the 5D, and I remember there is a way to tell the camera to add my name to each shot's EXIF. How can I do this? Thanks Pierre
pete w
Pierre, This is done by hooking your camera directly to your computer and using personal functions.
bellavance
I understand that I have to connect the camera, but what are "personal functions"? Pierre
pete w
While camera is connected go to basic settings, this is where you enter the owners name, date and time. When you have entered this hit the apply button and it saves everything to your camera. Take care, Pete
bellavance
May I ask in what program? Thanks. Pierre
pete w
It is in the Canon software that comes with your camera. There is a separate manual included with your camera for the software where it will explain everything. Take Care, Pete
bellavance
I'll try to find it. Thanks. Pierre
bellavance
There must be something wrong in my installation, because nowhere can I find this function. Pierre

digitmstr
Pierre, it's done in CAMERA WINDOW - If you are using a PC it should be in START menu, under the CANON UTILITIES group. Gongrats on your new purchase!
buck_rogers1
I just did it for my 30d...maybe it's the same.
open EOS Utility>
Select "Camera Settings">
Select the tool icon in the lower right>
Click on "Owner's Name">
Type your name and you're done.

NK Guy
Yeah, you use EOS Utility or its predecessor, Remote Capture. I don't know if Remote Capture will work with the 5D, though. For some annoying and bizarre reason, however, EOS Utility only lets you type in alphanumeric characters in the owner name field. Which sucks, as you can't put in URLs or email addresses properly. Remote Capture has no problems with this.
bellavance
I can't find this EOS Utility. I have a problem installing the software on the CD. While installing Camera Window DVD and Camera Window DS, I get this message: Could not find any previously installed compliant products on the machine for installing this product. I've submitted a request to Canon. Pierre
savas_kyprianides
I succeeded in getting it done, but it was anything but intuitive.
oscar_van_der_velde
If everything installed okay, and you plug in the camera you get a window for downloading the shots. Go to the second tab. Very easy!
anthony__cornwall_
A question for Pierre - please. I have recently experienced the same software installation problem with Canon Camera Window setup. The message was "could not find any previously installed compliant products on the machine for installing this product" Did you sort out a solution for this problem? Your response would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
bellavance
I called Canon Support and got their help in installing the program that came with the camera, and it worked. Pierre
