Bayonet filters for a Kodak Retina SLR

Recommended Posts

Just so there's no question, the camera I have is a Retina S circa

1959. The Schneider lenses 35 F2.8, 50 F2.8 and 85 F4 have a bayonet

filter system of the same size. Is this sized like the Rolleiflex

filters bayonet 1, bayonet 2 and bayonet 3? Are there standard

bayonet sizes like series filters? Can anyone help me find modern

filters for these lenses? I've looked everywhere I can think of but

no luck. Thanks in advance for any response. (photo 1 shot with the

Retina S & Schneider 50 F1.9, photo 2 shot with the Retina S &

Schneider 35 F2.8)

I'm not sure if it's true of those specific lenses, but a goodly number of Retina lenses take a 32mm push-on filter. The only current source I know of are B&W. 32mm push-on to Series V and VI adapters are out there, but can be hard to find. Should this be the correct size for your lenses, be warned that there are also 32mm threaded filters in existance, from Kodak, and probably others.

Gregory,

Wow! I especially like the GMC truck picture. (Old cars and trucks hold a special place in my heart.)

I have the 50/1.9, 50/2.8, 35/2.8, 28/4, 135/4, and 45/2.8 (the 45mm was for Instamatic Reflex but fits Reflex S, III, and IV). I've never used any bayonet-type filters on the Retina lenses, but I know the mount exists on them.

I'm pretty sure it's a 58mm thread on the 50/1.9 lens. Not sure about the others.

I found the Reflex S owner's manual here

--Micah in NC

Gregory,

Ooops! Apparently some 50/1.9 lenses have a 52mm thread and lack the moving, orange depth-of-field indicators. This according to Chris Eve's page.

He notes that the bayonet fittings are for a lens hood.

The 35, 50/2.8 and 85mm lenses should use 29.5mm screw-in filters, according to that site.

--Micah in NC
