Anybody cut down rolls of printer paper?

Recommended Posts

Tried some Epson Velvet Fine Art Paper and it was love at first

sight. Sadly this paper is not available in 13" wide rolls

compatible with my 13" wide Epson 2200. I want to print panoramas at

13 x 40+ inches long.

Can anybody recommend a company that cuts down roll paper? Or is

there some equivalently wonderful paper available in 13" rolls?

I have considered using my matte cutter to make clean, exact 90

degree cuts across a 44" roll, but that would leave the curl in a

direction that might compromise the printer. Has anybody tried

this? Also, does long exposure to the air before printing compromise

printing qualities?

Would appreciate your input...that stuff is so nice!

It's not clear what you're trying to cut - are you thinking that Epson's Somerset Velvet, in

rolls, is the same as Velvet Fine Art? Unfortunately it's not.

If you especially like textured papers, you might consider Hahnemuhle Wm. Turner.

If you want wide rolls cut into narrow ones, google Exim Vaios - they have an industrial-

strength papercutter that does this.

Thanks for the answer, Kirk. Sorry for the confusion, I assumed Velvet Fine Art would be available in wide rolls, but now I see it is not. What a pity.

Thanks for eximvaios.com, they have a good selection of Epson and other papers in narrow rolls. I ordered a 13" x 50' roll of Ultrasmooth Fine Art.

Sure would like to see an Epson swatchbook, has anybody ever sighted such a beast?

You may want to try the Hahnemuhle papers. they are fantastic. One good source is

www.shadesofpaper.com. They are very reputible, have sample packages, various sheet and

roll sizes. They also have a full line of Lumijet papaers, which are also great. Again, I think

samples available at a modest cost. Large orders are competitively priced, well packaged and

have free shipping. And, no I don't work there, just a happy customer.

Cheers, Joe
