IR effect using PS CS?

Recommended Posts

You can also get a color IR effect i.e Kodak EIR. Make the IR version as mentioned in the link in a different document. Then go back to the original, paste the green channel into the blue channel, the red channel into the green channel, then copy the IR image and paste into the red channel. Fiddle around with levels and curves, and you can get an effect similar to EIR with a yellow filter.

I just thought I'd throw this in - I had a chance to check out a late beta copy of the new Paintshop Pro by Corel. They've included an IR filter that I was skeptical about at first, but after trying it a few times, I'm impressed - it works really well.

Pretty simple.

1_double your background

2_put it in SCREEN MODE

3_adjustment layer > hue/sat > max desaturation

4_put this one in COLOR mode

5_adjustment layer > curve > do nothing, press OK > put it in SOFTLIGTH mode

6_go back to the BACKGROUND COPY > gaussian blur until you like the effect.

Voila! a IR picture from a digital camera...no mess, no special filter AND the abilytie to go

back to your color without a problem.

You juste have to put some noise to imitate film grain.
