Velvia 50 stopped production

I saw an announcement on another site that Velvia 50 has finally

ended production. It basically whatever is left out there to buy.

B&H has already begun taking orders for 35mm Velvia 100. Anyone do

an actual comparison of these two films yet? I'm mostly concerned

whether sharpness of the new film is as good as the old. I already

know grain is finer. Before the sumer is out I'm going to buy a last

few rolls of RVP 50 in 120 and 35mm. What is the new designation of

the 100 film- RVP100?

Ah - just stocked up on good old RVP50. I always hated Velvia 100F and am happy to see

that B&H is offering Velvia 100. I haven't read (or seen) any actual comparison yet and am

anxious to find out if the new 100 is a worthy replacement. At USD 10 a roll, it better be.

I just saw this review on Ken rockwell's site: <a href="http://www.kenrockwell.com/fuji/velvia100.htm">http://www.kenrockwell.com/fuji/velvia100.htm</a>. Yes it's called RVP 100. He gives it a very favorable comparison to Velvia 50. He also doesn't like Velvia 100 F b.t.w. He also mentions that it will be available in all sizes to 8x10 and quickloads.

Do not know if its in the archives but this has been discussed on photo.net in at least 4-5 other posts going back 3-4 months. Lots of discussion about it then. You might search to see if they are here.

Does RVP 100 want to be "overexposed" slightly as was often recommended for Velvia 50?

According to Ken Rockwell's article on it, RVP 100 is fine at 100 and possibly even be shot at 125 to match Velvia shot at 50 instead of 40.
