xcapekey.com
hey all..playing around with an FA and was wondering if there was anyway to fine tune the flash? I'm using a SB-28dx with the FA in TTL mode. TTL on the flash offers no way to dial in - or + adjustments....and there are no provisions on the body either. i'm assuming the only way i could do this would be to use the meter compensation on the flash to adjust the light output as well? for example...the ambient is F16 @250...camera is set to manual....flash is connected...to get -1 compensation, i would have to change the meter to -1 on the camera body around the rewind knob? any other way? thanks russ
aaron_ng
Yes, that's right. What I do is I meter with the flash off. Put that setting in manual exposure. Then I turn the flash on and set the exposure compensation dial on the camera body (around the rewind knob) to -1 for -1EV. Basically, that is the way. There is not much point to find another way, as the camera always sets the shutter speed to 1/250 when the flash is on in A mode. So you have to get into M mode anyway when wanting to use the flash properly.

aaron_ng
You do know that flash doesn't work well in P and S modes? What happens is the aperture gets stuck at the setting that is set on the aperture ring (which is f/32, 22 or 16).
