d_g
I'm considering to buy another lens for my RB Pro SD, i'm considering two lenses Rb KL 140 macro and 150 KL. I will shoot at infinity and sometimes close up but not macro really (architecture detail, head and shoulders portrait). Shall i go with the macro lens or the regular 150 KL ? Is there different versions of this two KL lenses ? thanks
jmf
The RB's already have a fair bit of macro built in due to the bellows. You'd be getting REAL close w/ the 140. You know the 150mm is a soft focus lens for portrait, right? If you don't use the disks for the 150, and stop it down a bit, it's an "ok" lens for general purpose work. The 180 is more a general purpose lens, and also doubles as a good H&S lens. Analyticly sharp; you'll need to soften skin shots unless you want to see into people's pores. The 150 is pretty magical as a portrait lens, delievering a MUCH nicer effect than either white/black mesh or simple diffusion filters. I've yet to see a PS trick thats close. They show up on ebay now and then, but you need to make sure the 3 disks are included.
jmf
I went back and looked and the DO carry a 150mm thats just a straight tele. My bad. In any event, I'd still recommend the 180 as a good general purpose prime lens. I found even that was borderline if you want to get in close to faces. I'm still lusting for a 150 mm soft focus...
