einav leshetz
I recently bought a super duster (from MG chemicals) ($20 for air!) to clean my 4L series lens. The can does not come with a lid, yet comes with an attachable thin straw to be used during spraying. After walking away from the shop the thought occured to me 'I wonder if storage of this item will lead to dust sneaking into the straw or duster head therefore resulting of the straw spraying dust instead of dust free air'. This though came to me because recently, my hurricane blower was used to clean my lens and instead resulted in blowing dirt and dust onto my lens. (me was unhappy). I dont want this to happen with this new duster so i've been keeping it in a plastic bag- though i dont know if this is a good idea incase it creates moisture in the filter head. I know I'm probably over-analyzing the situation but I dont want to do anything silly that might result in stress. The duster sits in my bedroom (UPRIGHT!) in a plsatic bag. what do you think? Anyone as paranoid as me?
john_stafford2
<i>I wonder if storage of this item will lead to dust sneaking into the straw [...]</i><p> For sure you should be concerned.. There is a parasitic bug <i>Microcorpfericpagus</i> that seeks tiny tubular things (usually dead reeds) in order to hibernate when in a distressed environment, when faced with a lack of moisture. They have a shell that is steel-hard. They have no ferimones so to compensate they cluster head to tail when they hunt, so there are likely several in any place they discover.<p> When you hit that spray button and shotgun-like blast of microscopic steel-like BB-bodied bugs are shot onto your prescious lens, you will have found Microcorpfericisspagus. jimstrutz
<I>"Anyone as paranoid as me?"</I> <P> Nope. Not unless you count John Stafford, who must wake up nights dreaming this stuff up. :)
mendel_leisk
First shot off to the side would blow out anything that had accumulated, I think.

Yeah--but then you will have your own, hand-made, dioptric "expodisc" and setting white balance will never be a problem ever again. Yes, you are paranoid, and they are out to get you! john_stafford2
I like to bring a Super Duster to the library. It sounds like Hushing. People hate it and give the librarian mean looks.<p> It's rebranded as an aid to asthmatics for blowing out candles. Which is mean. It's flammable.<p> <i>The duster sits in my bedroom (UPRIGHT!) in a <u>plsatic</u> bag.</i><p> Yes, good idea. If you let it lay down it will fall asleep. It snores. Most of us leave it in a different room. <p> Did you know that there are 23,400 Google entries for "<i>plsatic</i>"? 23,400 people can't be wrong. frank_skomial
Putting jokes aside... You should have kept your "hurricane" blaster in a clean plastic bag. Did you ? The SUPER DUSTER - just do not use it to clean sensor on any DSLR. And always wash hands before getting to the camera or lens.
