martin_patek_strutsky
I had the opportunity to play for the first time with a 6000ws fresnelspot and was very pleased by its even light with sharp defined shadows. Unfortunately Hensel does not offer an add-on fresnel for my 500wsmonoblocs. Is there still any chance to copy this effect? Within my current accessories my closest bet is a 7" standardreflector with a 20 deg. grid and some softening foil.
ellis_vener_photography
There are a couple of companies that either make generic optical spots for flash equipment or modify older Mole-Richardson fresnel spots for flash. Try http:// www.flashclinic.com
martin_patek_strutsky
Thx Ellis, flashclinic seems to offer their own line of fresnels, but the website gives no specs or prices.
steve_roark
Funny, I've been toying with the idea of putting one of those plastic fresenel sheets in front of my strobe to see if I could replicate some 1930's styles. These are lightweight and it should be easy to construct a supporting frame that can be mounted over a monolight. Heres a link to a site that sells some big ones: http://www.alltronics.com/lenses.htm I saw another site that mentioned Office Depot having 4"x5" sheets for a dollar. http://medfmt.8k.com/bronfresnel.html Another site has 7"x10" sheets. http://knowledgepublications.com/index.htm Apparently, people like to use these things to burn stuff, but at least one company is using them as telephoto adapters for flashes. http://www.kirkphoto.com/brackets.html hope this helps.
