bill_thorlin
Hope you do not think is a cheek but I know sweet nothing about cheap digital cameras. Also I hope you do not feel this is "infra dig". Basic question is :- my wife wants to buy her daughter a digital camera for her birthday, specification - point and shoot, about 100 quid, sturdy ( you know what youngsters can be like ) and available in the UK. After all it may just spark an interest in something worthwhile !!!
michaelkh
On the high street, the Olympus mju Mini digitals are about 130 - they're tiny, rather chic- looking, have what looks to be a very decent lens, and they seem to deliver decent quality images. Alternatively there's the Canon Powershot A510 (140 quid), which seems really very good, and cheaper, the Nikon Coolpix 4600 (which a few places have for 120 quid). At 100 quid or below the choices get a bit slim - there's a Canon Powershot A400 kit for 100 that might be worth a look (comes with a case, memory card and mini tripod thing). bill_thorlin
Thank you both for your input. Went shopping at weekend with your advice in mind but came across a Minolta Dimage X31 for 70 quid and being a long time Minolta addict persuaded wife this was a good deal (hope I don't regret it). It does seem that the prices on these type of digitals plummet when new items hit the streets which it seems they do virtually every day. What a volatile market ! Thanks again.
