peng_kit_wong
I am using EOS10D with EF24-70 L and I find that focusing is somewhat slow than my other prime lenses; 50 f1.4, 100 2.8 macro, etc. I am very annoyed and very fustrated with the slow focusing. I have bought this lens brand new and I was wondering if I have got the 'bad batch'? How you you guys feel about the focusing of this lens? Do you find it a bit slow compared to primes? I do understand that the amount of light availabe affects the focusing speed but I have used 24-70 L and other primes at the same situation and I find it slower. Very disappointed! peter_white2
Mine seems almost instantaneous focusing from 1 foot to infinity. That's on the 20D. If i had to guess, I'd say it was less than 1/4 second.
KenPapai
The 24-70 focuses at least as fast as the 50 1.4<p> Compared to about 8 other lenses I've used on my EOS cameras (film and digital), the 24-70 focuses among the quickest (quickest perhaps being the 70-200 2.8). marknagel
Mine focuses noticably faster than my 50/1.4. Mark
digitmstr
My cpoy mounted on my 10D(s) focuses very noticeably faster than my 50 f/1.4 and 100 Macro USM, both of which are no slouch in terms of AF. If your 24-70 is slower than the MACRO lens something is not right.
miles_feigenbaum___dallas_
Are you starting with fresh battery in the camera? Mine is instantanious using a 1D. Take it to a local camera shop and try it on another 10D, then try it on a 1D or one of the newer bodies. Then try one of their 24 to 70's. steve_mitchell2
I had a similar problem crop up on my 24-70L. The batteries were almost completely dead. Freshly charged batteries restored the fast focus.
