cxc
While surfing to avoid work, I have encountered a number of current (2005) references to the existence of a MF Widelux 1500. My understanding was that Panon had gone out of business. Is it back? Due to some recent success with my F8, I would be sorely tempted. Oh, and don't tell me to go with a Noblex, as I don't use cameras that require batteries...
brian_walton
Try the Widepan. It is really quite good. Brian
norman_wijaya
this camera due to its rotating lens produce a fisheye effect yes?
brian_walton
nope if you keep the camera horizontal. Don't ever shoot flat surfaces dead on. Just perfect for scenic shots. Brian
matt_needham
"Don't ever shoot flat surfaces dead on. Just perfect for scenic shots." My advice is just the opposite. With a fantastic fun camera like the widelux, I get my kicks shooting subjects that I know will distort, bend, twist, etc... If I want a "straight" pano I'll get much better results cropping from medium or large format.
bobby douglas
Cylindrical distortion is the key here not fish eye or barrel distortion. This makes this a very unique camera.
michael_przewrocki1
go for widepan but ask george s. pearl of atlanta first. there are different versions. w1500 could have huge problems. i can tell you stories. go to my forum: analogue rotapancameras only: http://forums.delphiforums.com/pancams/start using mechanical cameras is a wise decision. i have w1500, horizon 202, s3pro, widelux 1500 beside electronic roundshot 65/70/220.my friend has 202s for sale. 1/500 instead of an other exp. time. michael_przewrocki1
be aware: widepan and w1500 -despite shorter filmsize(110mm versus 122) has the same overexposure-problem with 1/250 in the start-section. it can be photoshopped.
noblex has another problem: when its windy uneven drumrotation could occur.
