cjogo
For large groups at the altar after the ceremony ....a used Quantum, maybe ..something that can produce "soft-even-light" across a broad area.
KenPapai
Maybe a Canon 580EX Speedlite on each body and a slave, e.g., a 430EX somewhere in the scrum? Appropriate diffusers are nice to have, even something as simply as a Sto-fen Omnibounce when you don't want or cannot bounce your flash. Is it time to post another image of the Flash Man? LOL. KenPapai
The S-F Omnibounce seems best pointed "straight ahead" (i.e., your flash head at a 45-degree angle) and not ideally to be used pointed up at the ceiling for a bounce fill.
colleendonovan
How about no flash?? Most churches won't allow flash during ceremonies. In that case you'll need some fast lenses and fast film. Or high ISO's. Or a tripod. There's lots of ways to get good pictures without flash. Sorry. I guess I'm not answering your question. I use a 580EX flash on my 20D. I don't use a bracket. I try to bounce and foof whenever possible. For formals I like to put the LSII on and I use a tripod. Actually, I like to use the fong dong a lot. I almost never have the top on it and I bounce it. For some reason today I am sounding like a second grader. Sorry.
eden_soto___dallas_tx
does anyone have picture samples of what they use?
picturesque
Eden--I think you're not getting a lot of serious answers is because it is unclear what you are asking for. Are talking about on-camera flashes or are you talking about off-camera battery powered and studio type flashes?
eden_soto___dallas_tx
I'm talking about camara flashes something good that I can move around with.
scott_brooks1
You still haven't said what camera you're using. If you're using a Canon then the 580ex Speedlite is a great flash. And if you're talking about shooting DURING the ceremony ... many of us do not use flash.
eden_soto___dallas_tx
allright I have a canon 20d and just I try to shoot without flash most of teh time but sometimes is necesary so what is teh best recomendation
armando_reyes
For the 20D nothing better for the money than the 580ex. Or the new Quantum digital $$$trobe, money well spent. I am not a full time pro, but a single strobe is not enough for my photographic style
picturesque
Most people will tell you to get the 580EX and learn to work with it with the 20D. The combo does have it's quirks. But it is a workable combo. Some people don't like ETTL and prefer an auto thyristor flash, claiming more consistent exposures. This might work for you if you have problems with the 580EX, but I'd try the 580EX first. A good flash that has ETTL and auto thyristor is the Metz 54MZ-4, although it has it's own quirks too. As for plain auto thyristor flashes, the old Vivitar 285 is a good one. Big difference in cost between the 580EX/Metz 54 and the Vivitar. In any case, be sure to read and understand the article at photonotes.org/eosflash and the article on on-camera flash at planetneil.com.
perfect images uk
i use canon cameras , & can see why others are directing you to the speedlight flash . In my opinion it as to be METZ ! i did try speedlight flash guns early in my career , but dont like the results even when softened with diffuser ? simon
