murrayatuptowngallery
Just got an Ansco 5 with a Wollensak lens/shutter. Old Wollensak catalog from 1905-1910 era looks like Wollensak "Winner" model with Ansco nameplate. Lens looks like symmetrical 'Rapid Rectilinear'type, if that's what Wollensak called theirs, but might be single elements...doesn't look as robust as B&L with acromats. Anyway, I need to work on the aperture which is binding. I got the front off, and knocked the cocking lever and spring out (they come right out...I saved the spring safely). Anyone worked on one of these? I don't want to wreck it...but it's not woreth the cost of a shop repair. Thanks Murray
murrayatuptowngallery
If anyone wants to follow this, see www.cameraeccentric.com for Wollensak catalogs from this era. The lens IS a cemented achromat Rapid Rectilinear, but only f-11, not f-8 as the B+L.
