momente
Someone I know (in real life, not online) has for sale the following things: 1. Almost new (seems out of the box, but has no box or papers; probably stolen?)EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM Canon Autofocus Lens.2. New (sealed) Sony DSC R1 + 2 year warranty (but in Spain!)3. Used Nikon D2H, with no lens and no battery, and a serious vertical scratchjust below the ISO button. He'll trade any of these for 700 $. Now, considering this guy's.. very strange, undiscriminating offer, I tend to leave things as they are and start avoidinghim. However, I was planning on buying a new camera and the R1 was somewhere onmy list (basically because of that CMOS sensor and live preview; the thought ofsensor dust and serious extra money for a decent walk-around lens still keeps meaway from the dSLR market).
Yes, I know that the L glass from Canon is worthquite a lot, but it's basically useless to me, unless I attach it to my eye andcall myself EOS-1Ds Mark II (no, I couldn't sell it here, in Romania, for doublethe price, as you'd do in New York). As for the Nikon, I've not the extra moneyto buy a lens + battery, and at the same time hope it won't brake the next day.
Now, if you bother to briefly visit my gallery, you could tip me on whetherthe R1 would suit my shooting 'style' or I should simply put this whole issueaside and go on saving money and time.. ben conover
Hello 'Dare', If the goods are stolen don't buy them. As to shooting style, people can make photos with any camera so just stick with what you have. If Romania really is as beautiful as they say, then go out and enjoy life, take a few good photos, and stop worrying about money.
mars c
If I were you, I'll buy an R1, but not from him. Go to your local sony dealer, maybe they have a sale of the R1, for slightly higher than 700$ with payment terms. I bought my R1 through a SOny store, when I found out it was on sale and with 12month zero interest. I put my credit card on the table with out hesitation. JUst look around , probably you could get a legitimate R1 at a good price cause the sony dslr is coming to your shore.
andrew robertson
If you buy stolen goods, you should think of the poor unfortunate person who owned them before you. Perhaps he or she was even murdered for their camera equipment!
momente
Yes, you guys are right, I told him I'm not interested. I don't know if the goods were stolen or not, it was just a supposition; anyhow, it doesn't matter anymore, thanks for a righteous feedback.
