keithdunlop
I want to use the "constrain size" option in the Lightroom 1.1 export dialog for online wedding proofs, but when specifying width and height what do I do when the selection of images has both horizontal and landscape orientations? I don't want to have to break my selection up into two groups; one horizontal and one vertical. Also, does Lightroom keep the original raw file in the library after an export, or does it leave the library and get converted to the file format I choose. I obviously want to retain the original raw file for later editing if needed.
mark_sirota1
Lightroom never touches your originals. (Exception: It may write XMP metadata into JPEG, TIFF, and PSD files if that option is checked in the Catalog Settings preferences box.) Just specify the larger dimension for both width and height. Lightroom won't change the aspect ratio of the image. In other words, if you want your 3x2 aspect ratio images to be 600x400 pixels, then specify 600 for both width and height. Uhooru
As mark says. I do it all the time. Both dimensions the same, and LR maintains the aspect ratio and takes the longer of the sides as the value.
