elaine marie
Hi,<P> I have done a several weddings up to now that I felt were okay but now I am looking to improve my images by paying more attention to how I frame them. I did this wedding yesterday and my good friend who is a wedding pro came with me and assisted me. She did the posing of the couple which allowed me to pay more attention to the framing and the DOF. I am only asking for critique on the framing of the images I know the lighting is not perfect but I am working on that also. Thank you for your input. Gary Naka
These comments are made w/o my saying that I can do any better...which I can't. http://www.photo.net/photo/4774164 I like how the posts frame her, and the out of focus background. http://www.photo.net/photo/4774153 This shot bothers me. It is how the walkway get cut off in the corner, but the wall ends on the bottom edge. Admitedly a concrete walk is not the nicest thing to shoot but it does lead the eye to the couple. http://www.photo.net/photo/4774146 The tree to the couples right acts like a visual stop. Don't know if the shot would be any better if you moved left to shoot the bench from the other angle, like for this shot http://www.photo.net/photo/4773980 And the bush in the front acts like another visual block. It seems too big and to into the center of the image. http://www.photo.net/photo/4773966 The 2 out of focus red flowers seem to intrude too much into the pix and draws my eye away from the couple. Even though they are out of focus, red is a color that pulls the eye. If you had gone a little to the left (like the next shot) the red would not be so intrusive. You will get better with experience. The more focused I am on the subject, the more I loose sight of the surroundings. You just have to practice to be more aware of the surroundings. wedding-photography-denver
Well, I don't have much to offer on the framing. It looks very well balanced and pleasing for compostions. I only think it lacks a little in the area of personality... yours! What I mean is these all look professionally executed, but don't offer a lot of 'fresh' perspective. I hope that makes some sense. If you study this image, you will note the 'off' compostion. It is not intended to be pleasing in the traditional sense, but rather to reflect my perspective/vision of things (its from a wedding I am just editing now). It may not convey exactly what I mean but you will find it is reflective of my personality/style. When I get to some posed shots of the couple I will get one that shows better what I mean. Hope that helps a little.. Best, D.<div></div>
wedding-photography-denver
Ok, here is one from a little after the ceremony. I purposely placed them in a corner then using DOF and the light made a compostion that reflected the mood/style I like.. While this is not everyones taste, it is true to the style I produce and the personality of my shooting. The style/personality of your own seems to be the thing you are looking for if what you asked is what I am hearing... ?<div></div>
timcorridan
the only one i didn't like, is the red flowers in the way shot. nice try though....all others are framed w/ a good eye, i thought. congrats

kevin cook - stratford upo
Along similar lines. Shots to look out for I call them. The young lad was watching me work whilst the best man and a mate were obviously 'eying' up the talent I guess. There is perspective and the B&W adds a sort of 60's mood at the local dance.<div></div>
