james_ogara1
Hello all -- I switched to XP-2 a while back because it was so mucheasier to scan than TMY, but a lab tech told me the Kodak chromogenicfilms are easier on the automated equipment, and yield the best resultwith say a Frontier. I'm almost wondering whether I should not shoot XP-2 for my stuff, which might end up being printed on the trusty B-22, and 400CN forweddings. Any thoughts? He also noted that they have bar codes for print numbering, but that'snot a major consideration, though it would be nice to have the framesnumbered in the index print the way the color ones are. russ_butner___portland__or
I prefer the Fuji Neopan 400CN. Has better contrast and sharpness than Ilfords XP-2. However, the XP-2 is pretty good, and I prefer it over the Kodak offering. The Fuji Neopan 400CN, has become my B/W wedding film. Really nice stuff.<div></div>
johnmarkpainter
It depends on how much attention your lab gives you. Some labs will give you funky looking brown prints. If they WANT to, they can print in Gray Scale (my local Fuji lab does). jmp
fotografz
Thanks Russ. I didn't know that. Gotta try some.
eric merrill
Where do you buy Neopan CN? Neither Adorama nor B&H even acknowledge its existence.
russ_butner___portland__or
Eric & Marc I get it from a buddy in the U.K. For whatevfer reason, Fuji still hasn't released it in the States. Bummer, because it's real nice film. I get a brick or two at a time. Russ
mark_man
I find XP2 better than Kodak T400CN on the Frontier for wedding pics. Better contrast, and a more romantic feel than the Kodak film which is very fine grained verging on "fussy" in its detail with inferior contrast. Just my opinion... graham_line
I get my Neopan 400CN from Russ. A more expensive ;-) source is www.7dayshop.com in the UK. It's very similar to XP2 Plus but seems to have a bit more contrast.
