design8r
Does anyone know of software or ways to calibrate the monitor so it shows true colours? i have a feeling that my pictures are slightly dark in reality because i have turned up my monitor's brightness. Do my pics seem dark on your monitors or normal? any advice? thx
steve_swinehart
"any advice? " Yeah, do a search on "monitor calibration." This gets answered at least once a week. My guess is, you'll find at least 20-30 threads since January 2005.

maha_jumroen
Here's not a bad source for calibrating your monitor. (http://www.normankoren.com/makingfineprints1A.html#gammachart) If you can get the appropriate gamma square (probably 2.2) to be neutral grey with no colour banding then you'll have a reasonably ok calibration. Set your white point to 6500K (hardware, on the monitor itself) and adjust black level as indicated.
