steve_unsworth1
"The problem is this: there is not enough room in a 0,72 viewfinder for 28mm equiv. frameline and visible 135mm frameline" So what if there was a variable magnification viewfinder that adapted to the lens monted with the framelines as a kind of 'head up' display? Actually one of the benefits of the current manual system is that it's very easy to flich through all of the available framelines to see how the framing varies according to focal length. As I said earlier, we don't have long to wait before we know.
lucien1
Michael, "Logically, the new Wide-angle Tri-Elmar should in my view be a 24, 28 and 35 mm lens giving cropped pictures on the Md corresponding to 32, 38 and 50 mm)." But if they want to produce new wide-angle lenses perfectly adapted to Digital (telecentric ?), it make more sense to offer the equivalent of 21-24-28 in one single lens. ruben_osuna_guerrero
Leica sells a magnifying glass for the viewfinder. Then, you can magnify very small framelines.Anyway, I think Leica will offer two different models, because it is difficult to include all the framelines in a single viewfinder, from 21mm to 135mm (equiv: 28 to 200mm).Leica cannot design an all new viewfinder, because it would be too expensive. The first priority for them is to keep costs low, preserving quality. Therefore, they will adapt an existing solution to the new camera.
