aaron d
I have a 6x9 A-S (Horseman) back and the thing will stop sometimes when advancing before the next frame is in place. Instead of two cranks of the lever, it'll go to about half a crank and stop - then I have to push the release again and waste that frame. Otherwise I get a partial double exposure. I bought it new and it started doing this right away, so I just figured I was winding it too fast, or too slow... But now I've tried every different way and it still does it. Anyone have similar troubles and know what it's doing, or do I need to take it to a shop? Thanks in advance! -A
jimsimmons
I have similar troubles with my Horseman 6x7 back. I don't know that I've 100% solved the problem, but the technique that seems to work for me is to pull out the little chrome tab, then start to move the wind crank, then release the chrome tab, then complete the two strokes of the crank. I find that if I release the chrome tab too early or too late, I have problems with an incomplete wind or winding too much. I'll be interested in seeing how others respond to this, as I'm not fully confident I've got it right either.
aaron d
Sorry I'm so slow to post this update: I have found that if I click the little release lever before I even touch the wind lever it works perfectly every time. I had been pulling the lever out a little before pushing the release. Not only does that seem to cause the misswinds, but it's hard to do anyway with biggish fingers!
