bill_kerner1
Has anyone ever purchased or used these "universal" remotes. They look like a car wireless unlock/lock remote. They also offer it with some sort of fiber optic cable attatched to act as a relay so you can be behind the camera to fire the remote.
ducksquat
I'm not sure what you are referring to concerning the "universal" remote but I do have and frequently use Nikon's ML-L3 for my D70. I love it because it's fairly responsive and is just as good as using the timer to reduce camera shake. The distance is outstanding too.

stephen_fassman
$19.95 on www.eCost.com NIB,
scottconners
The Nikon IR remote is only 16.95 at B&H, why bother with an unknown? I know it's possible to trip the D70 shutter with universal remotes for televisions, so I assume any universal IR remote should be able to do the job. bill_kerner1
I will probably get the Nikon remote, I very rarely venture into non-oem territory. My question was really directed to the fact the eBay remote has so many buttons that if they offered some super power functions..... a man can dream can't he. andrew_schank
the extra buttons don't do anything, but the remote is more compact and has twice the range of the Nikon one.

john_schizas
You buy almost any brand of programable remote and set it for the D70, even a TV remote. It's just and IR signal. My ML-L3 goes about 16 feet, but my TV remote programmed to the D70 goes well over 55 feet. What you need to do is figure out what distance your going to need.
