I approve of digital (bear with me here...)

Hi Vivek, "Minnie" is almost priceless. Most people have never seen this cameras form factor before and don't believe it's a real camera.

Working out the metering quirks (Minnie still doesn't like turning upside down to shade the lens) but almost ready to load up some Leica film, ahem.... Kodachrome. Some test exposures using Wal-Mart Kodak Gold 200 look ok after adding some blur to correct the scan or is this lens really that sharp?

I approve of digital! Regards.

If you pay dollar for a film camera in Excellent++ or Mint condition, you can't afford to take it out and shoot it--at least I couldn't. I paid $265 for a high SN Nikon F4s. It has a few paint chips on the MD but it works flawlessly and certainly isn't "crap equipment." And I can haul it everwhere with me without worrying about ruining its value. A year ago F4s cost too much for me to justify the cost given the type of shooting I do.

Yes, digitals have got better and cheaper. But to produce photos with the sharpness and tonal range of a good used medium quality film camera, you're gonna have to spend at least $1,500 on a digital model and a couple of years from now it will be practically obsolete, just like a personal computer you buy today. I've got no problem with the folks willing to do that. It's just making good film equipment that much cheaper.

Actually, the best deals on good used film gear seem to be at the local camera stores. Many just seem to want to get it out of their stores so they can focus on digital. On the online auctions there is more competition for the classic equipment.
