kingsley1
I have owned this M6 TTL for several months and find that sometimes the metering doesn't work i.e. I can't get the red dot in the viewfinder even in well-lit areas. At other times it works fine. The batteries are quite new and the shutter is always cocked at the material times. What can be the problem ? Bill Blackwell Images
Check your battery contacts and try a new(er) set of batteries. If the problem still persists, I would get it serviced. “When you come to a fork in the road, take it ...” – Yogi Berra
emraphoto
the m6 will drain nw batteries in a day if put away in your bag with the shutter speed dial set to anything but OFF. believe me! it get's jostled about in you bag (ot whatever) and the shutter release get's bumped... then you're metering. sometimes constantly. change the batteries, try and remember to turn it OFF and you should be ok. john ps i have also noticed the batteries often fail to work in VERY cold weather. dstate1
When the meter fails to activate try pressing down on the shutter speed control. If the meter suddenly starts you have dirty contacts and it needs to be serviced. Second trick: Make sure your advace lever can not move further before you shoot. Sometimes the interlock between advance and meter is a little off and it can causes the meter to think you haven't cocked the shutter.
kingsley1
I think Dan has diagnosed my problem correctly. I have just tried firing away 50 or more times, each time with the advance lever completely cocked. There was no problem with metering in all those times. Should it reappear, I will try pressing down the shutter speed dial. And it it persists, the contact and batteries will be next. Thanks to all of you guys for sharing your thoughts with me.
