Leica M3 viewfinder in M6 TTL

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if it was possible to adapt the M3 viewfinder into

the M6 TTL. If yes:

- who can perform this service?

- How much does it cost?

and in case you have done this:

- How is it working for you?

It must be nice 0.91x in a metered body...maybe just a dream...

Apart from the difficulty of locating a good M3 finder that's not already attached to a good M3, I think that you would lose the meter in the process of converting--and that would defeat the purpose.

How about an M6 with a .85 finder?

The M3 and M6 TTL viewfinder are significantly different beasts. Osterloh's book "50 Years of Leica M3" shows both in detail.

The M2, M4 and M6 rangefinders are similar in optical design and mechanical layout.

And it would be very complex to "hack" the M6 metering into the M3 rangefinder, and the LED's that are on the framelines screen.

Sorry.
