arnold_balmer
I was wondering if it was possible to adapt the M3 viewfinder into the M6 TTL. If yes:- who can perform this service?- How much does it cost? and in case you have done this:- How is it working for you? It must be nice 0.91x in a metered body...maybe just a dream... diego_k.
Contact Don Goldberg at http://dagcamera.com/ if anyone he can tell you and even give you a price estimate.
Rob F.
Apart from the difficulty of locating a good M3 finder that's not already attached to a good M3, I think that you would lose the meter in the process of converting--and that would defeat the purpose. How about an M6 with a .85 finder?
john_shriver
Zeiss Ikon rangefinder is closer in design to the M3 than to the M2/4/5/6/7 finder. http://www.imx.nl/photosite/comments/c021.html There indeed may not be any handy place to put the LEDs in an M3 finder. fred_c1
Why learn to walk on your hands when your feet work so much better? Just get the 1.25x magnifier or a Bessa R3A.
vick_ko
The M3 and M6 TTL viewfinder are significantly different beasts. Osterloh's book "50 Years of Leica M3" shows both in detail. The M2, M4 and M6 rangefinders are similar in optical design and mechanical layout. And it would be very complex to "hack" the M6 metering into the M3 rangefinder, and the LED's that are on the framelines screen. Sorry. wai_leong_lee
It's easier to put a meter into an M3. Ask Huw.

emanuel_lowi1
Yes, it can be done and I have had it done. Yes, LED metering can be retained but the display is no longer at the bottom of the viewfinder, instead it's on the side. It's a complex expensive job.
