Hassy Darkslide Question

I have been having some light leak issues with a Hasselblad (I am sending my backs to

David Odess for service).

 

BUT

 

Something I noticed....I often miss the darkslide slot and instead attempt to insert it in the

gap between the body and the back. I also noted that I then turn the camera on it's side

so I can see why the slide isn't going in. THEN it is often being hit by direct sunlight

 

On a PERFECTLY functioning Back/Body, should I be able to insert a Darkslide in Full Sun?

There is a light seal consisting of a folded metal foil with urethane foam in between to provide extra springiness. These seals deteriorate and get wrinkled in a few years, and need replacement. I'm sure Bob Odess will do that as a matter of course, but you might mention it. You can also replace seals yourself; the kits are very inexpensive, even from Hasselblad.

Yes.

Assuming that the light trap isn't worn, and that the light trap shield is not torn or damaged, there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to insert or remove the dark slide in sunlight.

I think that the foil is Mylar....
