PS to CS2 layer question

Recommended Posts

In older versions of PS I could copy part of the image and paste it

where I wanted it, all within the same layer. With CS2, when I copy

part of the image and paste it, the program automatically creates a

new layer. The result is a bunch more layers than I really want or need.

Is there any way to make CS2 paste the copied section into the same

layer as it came from?

You could just merge that new layer with the starting layer by pressing command - E (the merge layer shortcut).

But if you want to copy something and keep it in the same layer:

1.Make your selection

2. Press "v" or click on the Move tool

3. while holding down the option key click on your selction and drag the mouse. A copy of your selection should be now moving around with your mouse within the same layer.
