lanierb
I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about potentialrelease dates for the 400/4.0 DO. It seems like it has been a whilesince the press release.
Lanier
dfdncithekxlbn8kaglf33
Hold breath; cross legs. In the meantime, you could get out there with what you have and make the most of it.
Once it does come out, you'll be asking if the price will drop soon. In short, nothing is ever perfect in the present, just available.
roger_shrader
I think we should expect a 300mm f2.8 before we get a 400mm f4. Not that I can afford either one...
lanierb
Canon announced the 400/4.0 DO last September so I think it is more likely to get a 400/4.0 than a 300/2.8. Besides, they just released a new 300/2.8 year before last! Is there anyone out there who actually knows the answer to my question?

bobatkins
Canon said it would be out in the first 1/2 of 2001, so they have a couple of months to go.
So far I haven't even heard of anyone seeing an image shot with one, though a few people have looked through prototype lenses at trade shows.
Personally I would not hold my breath waiting for this lens to appear. Maybe it will show up on time, but I have my doubts.
