dave_osborne
Anyone got any ideas? I've picked up a used lens (nikkor 28-70 AF f3.5-4.5) and it seems to have aproblem focusing. It focuses fine at 70mm and from 28-40mm, but around the 50mm mark the autofocustracks forever and won't lock on to anything. This happens with a D200 and a F80. Anyone seen this? any way around it? or is it just a faulty lens? Cheers, Dave.
todd peach seattle, washi
How does the image look in the viewfinder? Or on captures? If the lens has been dropped, it's possible that it can't form a sharp image in that zoom range. If it can't form a sharp image, it can't find an AF solution....... work-page
I've got the 28-70/3.5-4.5 (albeit the AF-D version), and have not seen that behaviour on my D50 and F75. Focusses correctly on both.
dave_osborne
Thanks for the replies. It seems to be able to achiev sharp focus thoughout all focal lengths manually but just can't do it via AF @ 50mm. Seems a bit strange. Think I'll just return it. Cheers.
