wheelie52
This to me, is an indication of a decline in the value of M (film) cameras already .... and where will it end? The add, which is in German and my babelfish translation didn't make a lot of sense, is a little confusing because in the picture of the camera a Summilux lens is shown and not a Summicron as described! Either way it went very cheaply in my opinion ... I paid close to this much on eBay for a body only four months ago and the bidding was very competetive! Of course the only other unknown possibility is maybe the auction was a dud .... hijacked account etc!
wheelie52
Oops ..... I forgot to include the link sorry! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Leica-M7-2-0-50-Summicron-M-schwarz_W0QQitemZ190033888725QQihZ009QQcategoryZ83798QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
steve_unsworth1
Given that it was a private auction and the seller's previous items were mainly low cost clothing items I'd guess that there's a very unhappy buyer just at the moment. Looks like theft of the seller's ID to me.
johnny massey
Looks very much like a Leica catalogue shot. Items described that sparcely (tech spec only) seldom attract feverish bidding, it just might be a case of a very happy buyer and a very useless seller. wheelie52
Hmmm .... looking at the add, you're probably right. Another eBay rip off victim. It's a cruel world for the unwary!
mark_theken
As a package, $1900 for a M7 and $1000 for a non ASPH 50 Summilux-M, seems to me a fair market price for these items for both the buyer and seller. Leica M equipment in nice condition has, in my experience, retained it's value extremely well compared to all other 35mm and medium format film cameras and lenses. seth_honeyman
That's $2900 in Australian dollars - or about $2,200 US. It seems very cheap.
mark_theken
My mistake...the conversion to USD is less than $2200. I did not realize that Euros had been converted to Australian $ in the auction listing. This is a very low price for this outfit as others have suggested.
