Minox 35 ml/1600 iso film

Hi everybody,

I normally shoot minox 35ML with iso 200 colour film and iso 100/400 black and white film with no

problem.

I am not sure if anyone here have encountered a following issue regarding the use of iso 1600 film and a

Minox 35ML. I tested 2 rolls of Neopan 1600 film recently. It seems there that there might be some

defect or my own misunderstanding of the camera light metering system. The light meter seems to work

fine choosing the appropriate speed depending on the light condition under normal circumstances ie. Day

time. (I shoot by choosing the f stop by myself not through P mode). However, I noticed that if the

location is dark the light meter is always at 60 (I m pretty sure it never went down to 30). This occurred

even when I point the camera at a dark room with very little light source the light meter will still point at

60 when clearly it should have been indicating the too dark symbol.

Here is the example of the negative:

All night shots that the Minox 35ML rate shutter speed at 60 under iso 1600 film:

Day shot always work with iso 1600:

any suggestion would be appreciated,

kind regards,

Being stuck at 1/60 would be odd indeed, but there are some things that may cause underexposure..

The shutter speed is limited to 100/ISO, which for 1600 would be 1/15. If your aperture isn't large enough, 1/15 may just not be long enough to avoid underexposure.

Another point to consider is the button inside the flash mount. If it's pushed in or stuck, the shutter speed is fixed to the flash speed. Depending on model it's somewhere in the region of 1/125. Don't know if the 2x button makes it a fixed 1/60, but it's worth checking out.

Hope this helps..

Hi Peter,

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, the problem is still there. A 60 secs shutter

speed for iso1600 even in a totally dark room.

I will still use this camera but just not at iso1600!

thanks again,
